Basil Willis charged for burglary of P-Market

Basil Willis

On Tuesday of this week, Basil Willis pleaded guilty to possession of a pipe after he was nabbed with a three and a half inch pipe for smoking cannabis.  He was handed a sentence of two years. And this morning he was brought from the Hattieville Prison to face another charge for the weekend burglary of P-Market on Central American Boulevard, a branch store for Public’s Supermarket.  The burglary occurred between nine Saturday night and eight Sunday morning and a black metal safe containing six thousand five hundred dollars, along with a nine millimeter Luger brand pistol worth two thousand dollars were stolen.  The culprits gained entry into the building through a damaged metal door on the second floor of the building.  Police have retrieved a copy of the surveillance camera from the establishment and they say it clearly showed Willis entering the building.  Willis pleaded not guilty and he was denied bail and remanded into custody until March twenty third.  Basil Willis has thirty one charges before the court: ten for pipe possession, two for possession of a control drugs and eighteen other offenses, including robbery, burglary and theft.  One of the more notable cases for Willis is the burglary at Western Union office on Coney Drive just days after it relocated from Regent Street in early 2010.
