Rodwell Ferguson also gets approval from the Blue

Rodwell Ferguson

The other P.U.P. convention over the weekend was held in Red Bank.  Like Saldivar, Rodwell Ferguson was endorsed as the Party’s candidate to run for Stann Creek West. Ferguson won the 2003 general elections but lost in 2008 to Minister Melvin Hulse and is now attempting a comeback. In his speech, Ferguson said he wants the opportunity to again serve the people of the constituency.

Rodwell Ferguson, P.U.P. Candidate, Stann Creek West

“For my wife, my kids, my mom and my dad, they gave me the blessing once again and said go back and serve the people.  And people I come to serve again.  The honorable Johnny Briceño, in April of 2008, when I told him party leader, I don’t think I want to run again because I feel I did my utmost best. And he said Rodwell that is the people’s desire, they wanted a change and they got a change. So Mister party leader, I want to thank you for giving me the courage to come back to represent the people. And people I will represent you to the best of my ability.”

While the opposition held uncontested conventions, in the north the U.D.P. attracted a huge crowd at the Corozal Southeast convention.  On Sunday, Raul Rosado, beat the incumbent U.D.P. standard bearer Servando Samos. Rosado who had the obvious support of the Deputy Prime Minister garnered one thousand four hundred and ninety-four votes while Samos received one thousand twenty-eight. Rosado will be taking on the P.U.P.’s area representative, Florencio Marin Junior who was endorsed weeks ago at a party convention to run again in the constituency.

Mr. Ferguson, I have heard good things about you, I can only hope that you are strong enough if elected to stand up for the people of Belize & not give in to greed like many others.

One wonders the reason why the Stann Creek Rural convention was held in Red Bank a village with a large number of illegal migrants. Could it be that the honorable gentleman is counting on these migrant votes come election day?

Boy Raddo !! Back by popular demand. I dont play party politics so I wont say that I support this ‘old timer’ in his quest for a second term. What I will say tho is that Raddo is good people, so much so that his contesting with that crowd is almost like a sheep running with a pack of wolves. Just be true to your convictions my Boy!!

Back to rob more land from the people of Belize – Great move that one!!!!! But then again, a Jaguar can’t change his spots, and neither can politicians – The greed & corruption may be under the surface, but it’s there, and if we are stupid enough to vote the PUP back into power (and indeed, the UDP) we will only have ourselves to thank for year after year of future misery and poverty for the majority, whilst the few get even more ulta-rich than thay are now. greed has no bounds with these people, and they prove time & time again that politics is just a mask of morality hiding greed & corruption.

I would like to take my hat off to Mr. Samos from Corozal Southeast as he is trully a person of the people. As he not battled off 1 opponent but 4, Mr. Rosado, Mr. Vega & family, Mr. Pablo Marin, and a group of PUP supporters who voted against him. But it makes you wonder if this is the way the UDP pays back those who dedicate and entire life to the party, because in my humble opinion he had no support from the party leadership.
But all that aside what surprised me the most is the way money was being given out, there was a minister who stood by the ferry and was giving out money like candy is given out at a party. As a mayor previously mentioned they seem to have unlimited funds.
So the question I ask is “Where do these monies come from who paid for this election?”
But that is water under the bridge, and those of us few who where brave enough not to sell out to the might Dollar, know that who really won was the PUP, as the UDP party is broken and the only glue that can mend it back is not for sale, Mr. Samos.
