Stanley Longsworth Sr. steps down as pro tem chairman of the Tender Association

There is trouble in the ranks of the newly formed association of tender of operators. On Monday the ad hoc association of tender owners was thrown together during a meeting that succeeded a sit down with Prime Minister Dean Barrow on his return from a meeting with cruise executives in Miami. The group of twelve tender operators unanimously elected Stanley Longsworth Senior as the company’s pro tem chairman. Just days after assuming that position, Longsworth has stepped down.  That came before the existing members were to take a vote against him.  According to one tender owner, during a meeting held earlier today, the majority of the association’s members felt that Longsworth was compromised because he operates a fleet of catamarans that tender for Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. On Tuesday News Five asked Longsworth about a perceived conflict of interest to which he responded that he was unaware of the allegation.

“Mr. Longsworth it has been said that it is sort of a conflict of interest for you to be named the pro tem chairman seeing as though you have an interest in Caribbean Shipping and some of the other tender owners were saying that you will give your fleet of boats first preference regardless.”

“Well first time I am hearing that one, but I would say in response that being a shipping agent places me in the right position to deal with the issues because it’s something that we have dealt with for years. Secondly I was selected by the tender owners with a unanimous note. So I don’t need to respond to that.”

The remaining members are yet to decide on his replacement but News Five understands that they are considering one of two prospective candidates.
