… While charity group funds feeding programme at Calvary

Story PictureAnother Belize City school was also a lucky recipient of much needed assistance today, thanks to the LifeLine Foundation. According to Director Kim Simpliss, Calvary Temple is one of the first schools the organisation decided to adopt. This morning Simpliss told News Five that the fourteen thousand dollar gift will be used to bolster the school’s feeding programme.

Kim Simpliss, Founder/Dir., Lifeline Foundation
“Once we came here, we just knew that this school needed the help and therefore, we decided to focus on this school and make sure that they get a proper cafeteria outside of the classroom where these kids can get a proper meal, a warm meal for the day.”

“How did you come up with the funds?”

Kim Simpliss
“We do fundraisers twice a year. Our signature fundraiser is a black and white charity gala which was held earlier this year. And that really was so successful that we were able to, not only do a feeding programme for the schools, but also help with the building of the school’s cafeteria so that’s rewarding.”

Georgette Bartley, Principal, Calvary Temple
“I can tell you that having a new cafeteria is much needed in our school as you saw the condition of the last one. It’s not in use, it’s not operable any at all and we have most of our students who can’t afford to buy food, who don’t come to school because they don’t have food to go home to in the afternoon so they stay at home. So presents problems with absentees and I can assure that with the building of our new cafeteria now, most of our students will have food to eat in the afternoons whether they can afford it or not.”

LifeLine will support the feeding programme at Calvary Temple for the next year and assist in fundraising initiatives at the school. The foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of Belizean children and organises various events throughout the year to finance donations to needy causes.
