Annual art camp set to begin July 28th

Story PictureIn case you missed the memo, the summer holidays are here and various academic, artistic and athletic camps are popping up across the country. The organisers of one such annual activity are tonight encouraging interested parties to sign up early because according to Ian O’Keeffe, the Eder Alamilla Art Camp is two weeks of pure fun.

Ian O’Keeffe, Volunteer, Eder Alamilla Art Camp
“The idea for this camp was basically my uncle’s idea, Eder Martin Alamilla and William Neal and Lita Krohn came together and they hosted the art camp at the House of Culture, but he passed away and now me and my mom took it over and we’ve been running it ever since. It’s good, it gives your kids something good to do instead of watching TV. Lot of the materials we use are recycled materials like crocus bags, making little mats and stuff like that with old rags and it’s really good. It’s been going on for four years, every year we have approximately two hundred kids. It ranges from ages five to sixteen.”

“Where can people sign up?”

Ian O’Keeffe
“You can sign up at the Bliss. They’re registration forms. It’s a dollar a day and it starts from July twenty-eighth to August seventh.”
