Night out on the town culminates at K.H.M.H.

Story PictureA night of socialising ended at the K.H.M.H. for a group of friends when the car they were travelling in flipped over several times. Just after midnight this morning the group was heading home when the incident occurred at the roundabout near the entrance of the Western Highway. (VO) Forty-four year old Dean Dawson was at the steering wheel, driving on Central American Boulevard from the direction of Vernon Street towards the Port. But as he reached the roundabout, Dawson lost control of his taxi, causing the vehicle to flip several times before landing on its roof. Of the four passengers inside, three were injured: Glenda Williams, Guy Hyde, and Queeny Fermin. They were all taken to the K.H.M.H. for treatment and this morning Fermin was released after being treated for minor head trauma. She relived the frightening moments to News Five’s Marion Ali.

“We were heading from Kim’s Lounge. Five of us were in the car and we were heading to drop off Miss Williams at Supal Street. The driver just lose control and the car just flip over and I get out. One ah di guys weh mi deh eena di car, he run from di site but Mr. Dawson, the driver, and Boomer, the other passenger, we stayed and were there for Glenda.”

“So ih crash into the round-about itself? Was there a bang?”

Queeny Fermin
“I can’t recall but all I know the car was upside down and I tried to get out. That’s all.”

Marion Ali
“Was he speeding?”

Queeny Fermin
“I noh know. I’m not sure.”

Marion Ali
“We saw some liquor bottles inside the car. Was the driver drinking?”

Queeny Fermin
“Everybody was drinking.”

Dean Dawson has been charged with Driving Without Due Care and Attention, Failing to Provide a Specimen, and three counts of Negligent Harm. He is to reappear in court on August twenty-second.
