“My concern is that Mister Castro brought in a surveyor stating that he is surveying land. But in Burrell Boom there is no land to be surveyed because the previous government already surveyed each area. He charges three hundred dollars, going around cancelling out the people of Burrell Boom and giving it to other people for three hundred dollars. Now that is wrong. The village council does not collect any of that money nor maybe the government does not collect any of that money. We want to know where does the money go and what does he do with the money because he’s done nothing in our village completely; nothing totally.”

“For the past three years he has been coming to us with bogusness about giving out lands, pay three hundred dollars here, pay three hundred dollars there. When people go for their receipts, they can’t get receipts. It’s not something that he has done only in Santana Maskall; it’s something that he has been doing also in Sandhill. So it’s a trend that he has been keeping up in every area that he goes around trying to collect from various people. The prime minister, also he needs to play his role in this part. Stop keeping stuff from the people. Let the people know what’s up. We need to know what’s up.”

“The honorable minister got one point million or four point five or added together you got six point three million to build the roads in Belize Rural North, especially one point eight million that was supposed to be spent on the causeway and the roads in Crooked Tree. Well, all the material came from Crook Tree itself so where did the one point eight million go? And the minister owes an apology to Crooked Tree in the amount of one point for million dollars so if he does not return that I want his books audited and I want his bank account foreclosed too.”
Oscar Pollard Senior from Burrell Boom also alleges that Castro has been using village chairpersons to collect money for land transactions. While no minister of government should be collecting money for land, the villagers say that they have been provided with ordinary receipts for payments.

This is serious but then with a Barrow administration anything can happen. Politics in Belize is dirty and no party is reliable but this administartion has taken the cake. Castro should definitely go and made to repay all the monies he collected. I would like Barrow to return all monies he alowed his family to gain from being PM!

Great job Belize Rural, continue with your cause and don’t be intimidated. Village people this is the time to stand united and not divided—put politics aside and think of Castro as a regular citizen and not a Politician—- what would your reaction to someone scamming you be?
