Police bust marijuana farm
In other news from the police, an anti-drug operation on Wednesday resulted in the discovery of a marijuana plantation. The illegal farm was located four miles southwest of Santa Martha Village in Orange Walk District. Police say it housed three thousand marijuana plants ranging from two to four feet in height and five hundred marijuana seedlings. Cops also found twenty pounds of seed and thirty-five pounds of processed weed. All the plants were uprooted and destroyed by fire. As is usually the case, there was no one in the area at the time of the discovery.
Police had better luck with a smaller bust on Saturday. Authorities say they stopped a bus at a checkpoint between miles seventy-one and seventy-two on the Western Highway and searched twenty-five year old Elizar Tzib. On him, they discovered a black plastic black containing four hundred and sixty-four grams or just over a pound of weed. Tzib has been charged with Drug Trafficking.
