Luis Savery also busted with illegal gun and ammunition

Luis Savery

There was another conviction for Keeping Firearm and Ammunition today. This time, twenty-six year old Luis Savery was sent to jail.  Savery was walking on Sunflower Street on the night of August twenty-second but when he noticed police on patrol, he accelerated his walk. That drew the attention of the cops, who pursued and searched him. They found two bullets in his pockets and a point thirty-eight revolver was discovered on the ground a few feet away. During his trial, Savery, who was unrepresented, admitted in court that he was going to rob someone because everybody has to eat. He was sentenced to two years for the Firearm and another for the Ammunition; both are to run concurrently.

A dangerous criminal, but at least an honest one. Still, he should use his 2 years in prison to learn an honest way to make money instead of stealing it. Maybe it’s hard to get up every day and work, but it’s the right way to live, like most of the rest of Belize.

  2. Earl Grey says:

That should be TWO YEARS ON A PRISON FARM………with HARD LABOUR.

THAT WAY HE CAN EAT………. AND HE PROVIDES FOR THE REST OF SOCIETY ALSO…..

not to mention learning skills to live by after being released from prison.

this law is ridiculous 2years thats all how stupid come on gov. this should be changed imediately to 20yrs in jail for this crime if the police didnt do this he might have killed or mamed someone 2yrs is a joke no deterent at all should be mandatory 20yrs in jail shows you how sad the situation is in belize when people are willing to go to jail just to get something to eat because their are no jobs worse economy in the history of belize economy in the drain tourism in the drain education in the drain exports in the drain imports in the drain crime way wayyyyyyyyyyyyy out of control corruption rampant what is it going to take belizeans for you to wake up and put this pm on a plane to miami we need new leadership we need a leader not a judas traitor.

  4. Edith says:

That’s the mentality of these guys – “everybody have to eat”, they do the crime, don’t think twice abt hurting anyone in the process n don’t worry abt the slap on the wrist they’ll receive. What abt the person he was going to rob, they don’t have to “eat” too? Wow….

  5. roska says:

Well people…. thank your talk show “whiz”… Mose Hyde…. for providing these criminals with their best defense……”poor man hav fu eat”

People in the north below poverty line……. wake up…. its time to adopt that defense when you are caught with your contraband……

or better yet….. take up your shotgun and start robbing people…. its easier than walking through tthe thick savanah mud with loads of contraband…..

Mose will be there for you!!!…

the whole judiciary system in belize is just a joke a big one too yhe government just stand aside and watch how belize is falling apart because it is not their family or friends there don’t care don’t they that there is a God and they will be judge. Come On wake up and smell the coffee.

  8. Sasha says:

WE ALL HAVE TO EAT. How about government setting aside some land so these criminals can till the soil and grow their own crop plus give the remainder to other needed shelter and still serve time. Now this is helping themselves and society. instead of society paying for their A- S.

  9. So Disappointed says:

Well he doesn’t look like he have missed any meals to me, so how many people have he robbed already so he can eat and maintain that FAT body of his???????????? This is just to show you how bold these criminals are they don’t mind admitting their deeds, after all they will just go on a little vacation where they will get free food for awhile and then come out and resume their activities, not to mention the stupid desperate women that will make their way up to the prison daily to make sure they have everything they need to keep them comfortable. That is law in Belize. Only the honest suffer in Belize!!!!!!!!!

Earl, I’ve asked you before and I’ll ask you again. Could you possibly forward that suggestion about a prison farm directly to the Min. with responsibilities for prison with a copy to the Prime Minister? I don’t know how much of these blogs they actually read and since the thought seemingly never crossed their minds, it probably would not be a bad idea to enlighten them.
