Duets; the Ultimate in Family Entertainment

It started with fourteen duos, and they are now down to four. Tonight’s show will be the last eliminating round, which means that the remaining duos will have to be flawless to remain the top three in the finals of Duets. It’s down to the wire, and the four plan to bring down the Bliss in the penultimate round of the competition for who will ultimately become the number one duo and take home the cash and prizes. You can expect to roll in laughter, sing along or simply sit back and enjoy the most original lyrics. Here’s how you last saw the aspiring duos.

{Highlights from performances…}

    I liked what Ann Marie said at the closing of duets last night. Its really sad to see good contestants voted out of the competition because of popularity. People should vote and give the credit to the couples who are really performing well. Its obvious who the last three couples should be. Please people don’t mess up this show with popularity or who has the most money show. We have a lot of talent in Belize, so please don’t break these contestants morale. Vote wisely for the duets who deserve it.

    I love what Ann Marie said last night at the end of Duets! In a coincidental kind of way, what she said, lived up to what William likes to tease her about ever week, “THE TRUTH”! lol

    Each of the four duos have their faults, 1 stronger than the other and many other faults, but they are all very entertaining. And that is what some of us Belizeans vote on; the duo that give us that most entertaining, most stirring moment. When it comes to talent, well that is a whole different story. We all have our opinions and our likes, but as a voter, judging from the four duos I saw on that stage, my best duos picks are Earlin and “Shaggy” (forget his real name) and Ava and Patrick.

    Earlin and Shaggy, apart from entertaining are very good talents; their lyrics are real, impressive and their presentations are very well done. Despite the fact that Earlin might seem all self indulgent, what we have seen is a young man, over 11 weeks hone his skills and present the best talent. Well Shaggy, despite from doing that absolutely fantastic shaggy voice impersonation, he has good rap skills.

    Patrick and Ava are just the best! It takes a lot to be an actor! It ain’t easy to fully portray and embody a persona, a character different than oneself; and Patrick is the absolute best at what he does! Ava is the best supporting actress ever as these two compliment each other and feed off each other very well. Over the weeks their presentations have been the most consistent, and to me, the most entertaining. And most of all, with strong and relevant messages!

    As for the other duos;

    Lucille and Luis are good acts. Lucille, beautiful young lady, however, requires a improvement
    in her singing. Luis, he can rap! His style, his lyrics, his swagger, very, very good presentation. They are captivating but I think their performances are not as consistent, and in this late stage, have not much improved as I would have expected.

    Well, as for the shake and bakers! I refer to my early opinions….some of us Belizean enjoy a and tend to vote on what gives us that most entertaining, most stirring moment! And if that is what votes will be on, these boys have got it! But, alas their true dance talent escapes me. They have brought exciting performances to the stage, which are very enjoyable but, to win, naaaaahh. Despite that, they are well supported as is evident at the Bliss each week. They may very well deny Ann “the TRUTH”

    So people, get out and vote, vote for your choice, but if I may influence you a bit…throw in a lil text for the above Earlin and Shaggy, Ava and Patric. To me, at least, they are the best talents!

    With that said, I enjoy watching duets. It is good local family entertainment. Something very positive, not just for Belize City, but for the entire country. That is just, IMPRESSIVE! I encourage you to catch the remain shows and greatly anticipate another season!

    I think most Belizeans were pleased with the outcome of the last two duets as well as the KTV Latino. This is the first time that the viewers are grumbling about some of the duos who made it to the end and some who obviously were entertaining and talented who dropped out really early. I think if the show is going to have the overwhelming following and support that it had in the past, the organizers will have to take a look at the format. Why not put a question out there asking for suggestions on how to improve the show; I am sure there will be many.
    What I gathered from what Ann Marie said is that she would not want to see a duo win soley because that duo had money to back them. So if a non talent from a wealthy family goes on stage they can easily secure a win with the correct amount of texting; that has happened to an extent this season and that is why some people have tuned out. We, the viewing public would like to see the most talented which is usually the most popular too if you think back to the last two duets, we would like to see that duo win. We feel without money in Belize you cannot accomplish your goals and this would play right into that feeling by so many Belizeans. Think about ways to improve the show, probably partnering with the other telephone company would be a great idea or giving the judges a percentage of the vote. We are smart people in Belize and we dont like to be duped. This season of duets has met with flapfrom the public privately and publicly from a judge of the show. We know we can do better next time around!
