Open Your Eyes, Smith says P.M. is shedding crocodile tears

godfrey smith

But who is benefiting from the nationalization of Telemedia?   Well, according to Smith, the P.M. is shedding crocodile tears and has placed his family and friends in key positions in Telemedia’s board of directors and as attorneys for the company.

Godfrey Smith, Attorney

“Yes the people of Belize need bawling for but he isn’t bawling for them.  From the nationalization of Telemedia from which he said people would benefit from lower rates and so on.  The only entity benefiting from that as we speak is the law firm of the prime minister’s ex-wife in the hundreds and thousands if not millions of dollars so he has no need to cry.  The only people benefiting are his friends and family that he put on the board of directors of Telemedia.  He has no need to cry, if indeed he is crying I say it is crocodile tears.”

I know I am sounding like a real PUP fanatic in this comments, but I’m not. I think it is right for Smith to be saying all this… Belizeans need to know this. I’m not traditionally a PUP, but maybe they get my vote if they get their act together, because realistically, no independent or other party will win in the next election. Ralph, Said and Coye thief, but under the PUP administration the economy at least grew with the ironic twist of crippling debt. PUP or UDP, is a double edged sword. However, I never felt as bad for my country as I do now. This disturbs me about PUP, though. Why are there so much fights over power in that party? I thought you were supposed to be looking out for the best for belize. A sensible person like Mark Espat shouldn’t be going on so childish in these times. THIS is the time to prove yourselves gentlemen. Reach out to the people who are suffering. Show them that they can trust you. Barrow has disgusted me beyond even my expectations, and I think I am in the same boat with a lot of Belizeans.

  3. Common Sense says:

Your Benefiting greatly too Mr.Smith……..Win – Win situation all around for the “big boys”. Good old Barrow, releasing more money that Ralph “growth (of my bank accounts) economics” Fonseca.

  4. Edith says:

Well, he isn’t saying he isn’t working for Ashcroft, he’s saying so is the PM. Our PM can’t throw stone if he lives vin a glass house!

  5. Global Perspectives says:

Common Sense hear hear, these people really think we’re uneducated fools. Sadly there are so many people who can see through the masquerade. It makes me angry to see how these guys are behaving like children. He didn’t have his own way so now he comes along and suggest the wrong doing of the PM, however if things were going swimmingly we the people would have been more the wiser. You see we are used for their personal gains whether it is during the elections or when they want to help their clients. Mr Smith how long have you known that Barrow was on your clients payroll? How is it you didn’t know what your client was up to? You are all the same, you could not care one minute happens to the ordinary man in the streets of Belize so please stop pretending that you do. This applies also to Courtenay it is about you people as lawyer gaining a situation for your client, law firms having a public spat and using the people to score points, shame on you.

The next channel 5 poll should consist of “WOULD YOU VOTE FOR OR AGAINST THE CURRENT PRIME MINISTER IN THE NEXT GENERAL ELECTION.” Belizeans had a high expectation of Mr Barrow but somehow he seemed to let us all down. Our country has to get back to its days of not living in fear of our lives.

  7. Bon Fiya says:

    Barrow was always BOGUS!
I am a youth who grew up in Queen’s Square who witnessed and continue to witness first hand the low down hypocrisy of Dean Barrow. He rose to power in 1984 telling the people that it was time to “raise up wid Dean Barrow”. Almost 30 years later, it is only Dean Barrow, his family and close friends who have risen. Take a walk around Queen’s Square- West Canal, George Street, Supal Street, Benbow Street, Kraal Road, Fabers Road- these are the areas poverty infested and crime ridden. What has Barrow as Prime Minister done to alleviate the plight, suffering and pain of the people of Queen’s Square? He has built like about three match box houses in one yard on Amara Avenue.
All these years, since 1989 when the UDP lost, Barrow has been on Ashcroft’s payroll. True, Smith and Courtenay are hypocrites as well because they surely knew all this about Barrow before, but conveniently hid it from the Belizean people. But the fact remains, Barrow is full of –IT.
Never has there been a Prime Minister in our history who grandstands, beats his chest and spews hate and malice like Dean Oliver Barrow.

    God save us!

  8. Elgin Martinez says:

All the beef with Ashcroft and Barrow is bogus.Barrow is an employee of this man.All this bs is to divert the Belizean Citizens attention from the real issue .

  9. Augustus says:

Bon Fiya…. Smith and Courtenay are not hypocrites. They didn’t hide anything it is Barrow who hid where he was getting his millions from the people. They are only reacting to being called traitors by someone who does the exact same thing. This doesn’t have anything to do with revealing new information or fighting over who is patriotic. This is about Dean Barrow, being a hypocrite.
