Kenneth Garcia gets 12 years for Manslaughter

Kenneth Garcia

Kenneth Garcia was found guilty of manslaughter for the death of his uncle, fifty-four year old Serjio Amilcar Garcia on June sixteenth. His sentencing was deferred three times while his attorneys tried to find persons to give mitigation pleas and Justice Troadio Gonzalez contemplated Kenneth’s fate. Well, in the Belmopan Court today, where Justice Gonzalez is presiding, Kenneth’s sentence was handed down. While he got a twelve year jail term, Kenneth will only spend eight more years because he has been imprisoned since the killing on September twenty-second 2006. On that date, Kenneth got into an argument with his uncle Serjio.  At trial he claimed it was an accident saying that he hit his uncle on the head instead of his hands when he tried to stop him from throwing rocks at him. Serjio succumbed to the head injuries the following day at the San Ignacio Hospital.

Well what a miscarriage of justice. This sentence seems excessive. It seems that 12 years for manslaughter is justice. Wonder what justice is there for accused murderers going free for “missing” case files and poor police work. Maybe the policemen doing the investigations should go on trial. I wonder if this was not just a case of let’s get thie most out of this one because we cannot be competent enough to convict the real bad guys. Go figure.

well due to so mant cases that have been reported or murders commitred it seems to be that justice is not being enforced to the fullest or as it is supposed to be, so i believe and see that many at times the guilty don’t get their punishment while in other cases the innocent get imprisonment for long years, and all this is happening due to the fact that injustice can be made by paying $’s to the court or even the police officers themselves. justice should be taken to the most serious point of action. the guiltyshould pay the price for their offenses or crime.
