Eddie Neal, robbed and murder and his family wants justice

Story PictureCloser to home in Belize City, Monday night turned deadly for twenty-seven year old Eddie Neal, who was killed by at least two assailants on Central American Boulevard. Neal has been in trouble with the law on previous occasions and is known to have a beef with a Kraal Road gang. News Five’s Jose Sanchez reports.

Eddie Neal was murdered at the corner of Central American Boulevard and North Creek canal in the back yard of a yellow bungalow house. Minutes after Eddie was shot and robbed, his girlfriend got the news.

“One ah my friend call me and tell me dat “your bwai just get shot” and I couldn’t ah believe it. I just feel di vibes and I just walk from way over and I ask one ah ih neighbor if he si Eddie Mac and he just seh dat how he hear dat dehn just lead up he round di corner by North Creek. And I just run and when I look I see police and den I si ah lay out.”

“Dehn tell yoh if anybody si who shoot ah or if di person deh pan bike or car; weh happen?”

Tenisha Bodden
“Well, dehn seh dat dah three person. I noh know if ah true or what but I just want justice because dehn wah tek weh my man life like dat?”

Eddie’s mother, sixty-eight year old Marian Plunkett, lives on Supaul Street near the location of the incident. She is upset because officers didn’t want her to interfere with the crime scene.

“My son deh pan di ground down deh and di police dehn wah haul gun afta we, afta my grandson? I tell ah officer dis dah my son and dis dah my grandson. Dehn noh want yer dat. Dehn noh want yer dat, dehn wah do weh dehn have to do. I seh well move me den, move me. Well I lie down pan di ground side ah my son because I tell dehn dis dah my son and ih done dead already, can’t do nothing to it but noh move me just lef me deh. Dehn police gone on really bad last night, haul gun afta people and people in grief? No man.”

“Dehn attack him so much time right by di corner by Kraal Road. Ih sit down eena wah yaad, he and wah bwai Biggy and dehn fire shot afta he and dehn fire shot afta mi grandson several times and ih get away. Last night ih run fi help and dis lady weh I gwein go bust ih face wouldn’t take in mi son. I gwein go bust ih face; she and wah crazy one. If dehn mi open di door and mek mi son run in deh ih neva mi wah dead. Dehn mi wah have to kill everybody in deh.”

The two women who knew him best, his mother and girlfriend, agree that Eddie had been in trouble from time to time.

“Well dah no di first time dehn shot afta ah. Dehn shot afta ah more dan one time, you know. And he mek wah lee report and thing but I noh know if dehn wah really look into it and thing.”

“Who had beef with him?”

“Well I noh really know.”

Marian Neal Plunkett
“He was a good boy. Ih good in one way. I noh di tell nobody dat ih good cause ih do things dat ih shouldn’t do. but ih noh faas wid people, ih dah wah mannerly son to me. I could go and wake him right now and seh clean up dis yard and ih wah seh yes ma ah di come. Ih noh do nobody nothing bad dat I know. He was a good Eddie. He neva deserve fi gone how dehn beat ah, dehn rob ah and shot ah eena ih head. Mi whole five finga gone in a di hole eena di back ah ih head. All I want is justice for my lee bwai.”

The neighborhood is clamoring for justice, whether it comes from the court or from the street. Reporting for News Five, Jose Sanchez.
