Belizean student at UCLA held for attempted murder

According to the Associated Press, a Belizean residing in the United States is being held for the brutal slashing of a University of California, Los Angeles student in a chemistry lab. The incident happened last Thursday and the assailant is identified as another U.C.L.A student, Damon Thompson, who moved to the U.S. about two years ago. The press reports say Thompson was arraigned today for the attempted murder of a twenty year old female university student, however Thompson had not met bail which was set at one million U.S. dollars. According to reports, the attack was not provoked and that the student was stabbed five times including a slash to her throat. The motive for the attack nor the relationship between the two has been determined but it is known that Thompson worked at the same lab as the alleged victim, whose identity is being concealed. A knife was found at the scene where the incident took place. And it is alleged that immediately after the attack Thompson walked into the student information center, reported the matter and waited for the police to show up. U.C.L.A. is not commenting on the issue because of the ongoing investigation.
