Story PictureA Ladyville resident who took his family to San Felipe on Monday did not make it back home. Manuel Diaz, Brother of Drowning Victim
“Monday was a holiday so he took his family with some other friends to San Felipe and they went to Rio Bravo and they were swimming by the dam. They have a small dam there. According to the eyewitness, he was walking at the edge of the dam and he slipped and fell into the strong current. The water took him into the deepest area. He was struggling to come out of the water but they have an area that is like a funnel and the water just circulate. His step son tried to save him and it was very impossible for him. I was there last night about three searching for the body because up to this time they have not found the body. It has been about twenty-six hours since he’s been missing and we have not been able to locate the body. We gave the report to the police. The police were there but they do not have the equipment to dive or divers to dive into the middle because to my knowledge many people have died in the same area and it’s due to the like funnel that’s underneath.”

Diaz leaves behind a wife and two daughters.
