Vehicle flipped; one dead, one injured

Around that same time in the Cayo District, police visited the Iguana Creek Bridge where they found the lifeless body of fifty-six year old Melvin Mendoza of Unitedville. According to reports, the deceased and his friend Orlando Trapp were both travelling from Black Man Eddy towards Spanish Lookout in Mendoza’s Ford Ranger Pickup with license plate number C-28614. Due to the rain, however, the roads were slippery and Mendoza lost control of the vehicle which overturned off the side of the railing of the bridge. Initial investigations reveal that when the pickup hit the railing, the driver was flung from it but the vehicle subsequently landed on top of him in the river. Mendoza sustained head and body injuries and died on the spot. Trapp, however, sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Western Regional Hospital in a stable condition.
