6th person charged in plot to rob Shoman family

And while it seems that, at least for now, the Brannon brothers’ case is hanging in the air, the D.P.P. has directed that additional charges be levied against those who allegedly planned an attack on the family of businessman, Jose Shoman. Today D.P.P. Cheryl-Lynn Branker-Taitt shed some light into that matter.

“Certain statements were faxed to me in Belmopan yesterday and I had a look at them and I had directed that at least in relation to one of the prisoners that certain charges be made. I had asked the police to get other information and to send that to me and a decision would be taken in relation to the other persons that were involved.”

“Can you release the names and or the charges?”

At this time I can confirm that charges were supposed to have been laid against Aldana in relation to Conspiracy to Rob. In relation to the other person in custody, it would have required police to illicit more information from the prison that we intend to use as witnesses before the specific charges can be laid against them.”

In court this afternoon five persons, two adults and three minors who were yesterday charged with firearm and ammunition offenses were brought back along with a sixth person, twenty-two year old Cesar Aldana. They were slapped with charges of Conspiracy to Commit Robbery. The two adults are forty-seven year old Honduran national Miguel Mayorga and thirty-three year old Belizean national Aldo Miguel Urbina of Orange Walk Town.

The minors are three seventeen year old Guatemalan nationals whose names cannot be revealed. They were remanded in custody until January twenty-seventh, 2009. Up to news time, no charges of Conspiracy to Commit Murder have been placed on the accused persons.
