Kimberly Brannon retracts jailhouse confession to murder

Story PictureShe claimed that two masked men killed Anthony “Antics” Herrera at their home in Burrell Boom on Saturday, but the police didn’t buy her story. And so Kimberly McLaughlin was detained by the police for questioning when Kimberly made the report to the police she used the last name McLaughlin, but the cops have since found out that she was once arrested under the name of Kimberly Brannon. Kimberly was remanded for killing her ex-boyfriend Paul Gonzalez and injuring Ruby Turner Mendez in Orange Walk in May of 2006. Since her release several months ago, the thirty-eight year old woman has been living with the deceased Herrera.

On Saturday Herrera was chopped to death while lying in bed at his home on the compound of the horse track in Burrell Boom Village. The machete used to kill him was left behind by his assailant. Kimberly was brought to Magistrates’ Court today to be arraigned on the charge, but it did not happen due to an error in the charge sheet. That has since been corrected and she will return to court tomorrow for the charge to be read. The police say Kimberly confessed killing Herrera. Though she has admitted giving the police a confession statement, she now claims that it was given under duress because the authorities kept her in custody for more than forty-eight hours. She maintains her innocence with the murders of Herrera and Gonzalez.
