Continental Airlines Toys for Tots gives gifts to over 200 kids

Story PictureBuilding on the success of its Rock the Runway initiative, Continental Airlines today doubled its outreach program to deserving primary school students. Today two hundred primary school students between the ages of five and seven from twenty schools in the city received gifts from the organizers, Toys for Tots Program. The faces of the children were filled with joy as Santa Claus handed out presents and four lucky students won bicycles. The event was held at the House of Culture where News Five spoke with Country Manager for Continental Airlines, Indira Craig.

Indira Craig, Country Manager, Continental Airlines
“We started out with a very meager budget and it turned out that it was a success and so we ended up not only increasing our numbers, doubling it because normally we cater to a hundred kids, we were able to do two hundred this year. But in addition to that we kinda expanded our mandate of what we really want to do as a committee and we are now trying to work a little bit harder with the children living with HIV and AIDS. So in addition to today’s event, which we will continue to do each year, we as well wanted to work with the Hand in Hand. Tomorrow we have the alliance against AIDS that we will be donating to the kids living with HIV and AIDS some Christmas gifts as well and by the end of the week we should be able to make that contribution to the Hand in Hand Ministry for all the hard work we did in Rock the Runway.”

“I noticed that four bikes will also be given out today.”

“Yes, we have the traditional bozo show, which is old school for so many people but is such a fun game for the younger kids and everyone will get an opportunity to do the bozo show and then we weed it down to two girls and two boys and then we have four bikes that will be given away today for their age range.”
