San Pedro Mayor, Wally Nunez Endorsed to Run Again

San Pedro Mayor, Wally Nunez was endorsed as the P.U.P.’s mayoral candidate for the municipal slate in San Pedro. During a rally on Saturday night, Nunez received the support of the People’s United Party, which had in attendance Prime Minister John Briceño, Deputy Leader Cordel Hyde, and ministers of Health and the Public Service, Kevin Bernard and Henry Charles Usher, respectively, among other P.U.P. officials. After he congratulated Nunez and his team, Hyde addressed the islanders about the rate of inflation, which he said merchants and vendors took up after the minimum wages went up.

“Give some support to this team. Look how beautiful this team look. Four women pahn this team, you know. The most women on any slate eena the entire country. That’s progressive. That’s to be commended. That’s to be celebrated. That’s to be admired. But I have a bone eena mi throat, right. Fi we government raised the minimum wage from $3.30 to $5., and the wicked grocers them in this country just eat up that. The wicked shopkeepers just eat up that. They raised the price of everything under the sun, just eat it up. So we have a situation now weh people upset. The teachers, the public officers, the police officers, the taxi operators are upset when they go to the store every week and the prices of goods going up for no good reason at all. Deh man dehn just decide dehn wa raise the price. It’s something wicked that has happened all over the country. We have to start get serious with deh people ya.”
