Mayor says it’s up to the courts to decide case’s outcome

Story PictureIn political news, Belize City Mayor Zenaida Moya Flowers has generally kept away from the public eye since she was criminally charged with twenty-two counts of Uttering a False document for twenty-two receipts valued at seventy dollars each that supposedly came from the Esso Gas Station at mile two on the Northern Highway. In addition to those charges, she faces possible expulsion from the United Democratic Party. But how does she feel regarding her case and her position in the U.D.P. The Mayor was calm earlier today when News Five posed these questions to her.

Jose Sanchez
“Attorney Dickie Bradley said since Mister Davis’ untimely passing there is no case against you. The D.P.P. maintains there is a case against you. Is there a case?”

Zenaida Moya Flowers, Mayor of Belize City
“That’s for the courts to decide.”

Jose Sanchez
“How do you feel your chances are regarding these charges?”

Zenaida Moya Flowers
“Again, I have already had my say on this and again I leave it in the hands of the court. Ultimately they will decide.”

Jose Sanchez
“And regarding your status in the U.D.P., is there any chance that you stay in the Party or is that move still against you?”

Zenaida Moya Flowers
“Again everything is in process so we will see what happens.”

The court decided that until her case challenging the constitutionality of the meeting of the central party council which removed her from the C.P.C. is heard, her proposed expulsion would be on hold. But it is known that a deal may be struck between the Mayor and the U.D.P. on this issue. Moya Flowers’ case for the criminal charges has been adjourned until December twelfth.
