National Transport robbery suspect freed of charges

Story PictureWhile the mayor’s trial is pending before the courts, Justin McClaren, who was accused in a robbery at National Transport Services Limited was freed today. Earlier this year in January, the bus company, was jacked of twenty thousand dollars after armed men stormed into the compound, bypassed the security guard and headed toward two employees who were transferring money from one office to another. After snatching the money bag, the masked gunmen got away in a grey vehicle parked outside of the compound. McClaren’s attorney, Dickie Bradley, submitted that no one could identify McClaren as the gunman because the robbers were heavily disguised. The Chief Magistrate agreed with Bradley and freed McClaren of the Robbery and Aggravated Assault on Gina Sosa and Nayalai Navarralla, employees of National Transport. During the trial, both Sosa and Navaralla testified and explained how the robbers grabbed the money bag and got away but could not positively place McClaren at the crime. In a statement, an eyewitness said that he had seen the grey getaway car and police also claimed that McClaren had a grey car similar to the getaway vehicle. Police told the court that they found a stash of eighty fifty dollar bills at the home of McClaren’s girlfriend’s which they linked to the robbery. While the cash was linked to the crime, Bradley said it was not conclusive.
