Police Minister Supports PM’s “Ban All Guns in Belize” Position

Kareem Musa

Minister Musa also commented on the Prime Minister’s statement on Thursday about guns in Belize. PM Briceño told reporters that if it was left up to him, he would ban all guns in the country, because they are creating more harm than good. Now, while this is only the PM’s opinion on the matter, Musa says he is in support of such a position.

Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs

“I support the prime minister in that. I don’t own a gun Paul. I probably will never own a gun and so I personally while I am against guns I have to acknowledge the fact that a majority of law abiding citizens in the climate where it is so easy for criminals to get their hands on guns coming from Guatemala, coming from Mexico and the United States, I do understand the concern of law abiding citizens needing to protect themselves. So, I cannot impose my personal beliefs. WE have to go by majority rule. In that instance we have to accept that that is the climate.”
