Frank Conorquie locked up for theft of laptop

Story PictureHe was convicted in 2005 for the theft of a laptop and is presently awaiting trial for a second charge of a similar offence. But on Monday, fifty year old deejay and computer technician, Frank Conorquie, was convicted for the theft of yet another laptop. His victims in the past four years are all women and on Monday his recent victim, testified in court which sealed Conorquie’s conviction and tonight, the Belize City resident, is behind bars. When he appeared for trial in front of Chief Magistrate Margaret Gabb McKenzie, Conorquie was found guilty of stealing a teacher’s five thousand dollars laptop computer on October first of last year. He was fined one thousand dollars to be paid by December second and in default will spend a year behind bars. Conorquie could not meet the surety and has been imprisoned. He is also expected to pay the victim five thousand dollars for the stolen laptop in installments beginning December second. The victim of this incident was fifty-four year old Vernabelle Bailey, a teacher of Gwen Lizarraga High School, who says that on October first, 2008, she gave her Dell laptop to Conorquie to fix but he never fixed it or returned it as promise. According to the teacher, she made numerous attempts to get her computer and to date the whereabouts of her laptop is unknown.
