Couple questions death of five day old newborn

Story PictureThe most memorable claim of hospital negligence this year came from Cenaida Reymundo, the woman who gave birth at the P.G. Polyclinic without the assistance of a doctor. Her baby boy died shortly after at the K.H.M.H. following a series of unfortunate events. And sadly today, the Faber family lost their five day old infant at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital under suspicious circumstances. Rudy Faber said they would have named the boy Alexander Russel but his life was taken away much too soon. Rudy and his wife Judith, say they want answers from the authorities at the K.H.M.H.

Rudy Faber, father of Alexander Russel Faber
“The baby was good. Dehn release ah from di hospital and we ker ah home and everything and within two days we return wid ah because di baby have shortness of breath and ih di fight fi breath. We ker ah dah emergency section and all dehn do prescribe nebulizers, dehn give ah some injections and thing. When ih reach up eena di ward, dehn put ah mongst big children weh ih could ah get sick. Wah young baby dah dah tender age deh supposed to deh eena wah secure room by ihself weh ih germs free. On the boots of it is that we came yesterday and we show them the child was fighting to catch breath and need urgent medical attention. The doctors seh they need to take some samples and thing. They didn’t come till last night to get the samples and this morning they came and child was a little okay when I came around, but I noticed that around his mouth get blue. We inform the doctors, they came and try but they couldn’t do nothing for him. Unfortunately, he died.”

Judith Faber, Mother of Alexander Russel Faber
“I want di best to come out ah my baby because dehn could ah mi tend to my baby quicker because ih come in from Tuesday evening and ih neva get attend to till last night.”

Jose Sanchez
“Is this your first child?”

Judith Faber
“Yes sir.”

Jose Sanchez
“The health care system has failed in terms of other children before. Do you think you want an investigation? What do you want the hospital to do?”

Judith Faber
“I supposed to do a post-mortem on the baby and if I find a fault with the hospital problem and if dah dehn cause di death ah my baby, then I would sue them.”

Jose Sanchez
“And you think you’re owed an apology also?”

Judith Faber
“Yes.”

Rudy Faber
“This morning when he passed out it was Dr. Eck and some nurses. I no sure who deal with him yesterday. I would like to see justice out of this and see the health care system step up the levels when it comes to young children. And when people come into the hospital and say they need urgent medical attention, they try their best to provide it.”

The result of a post-mortem will determine the cause of death, after which the family will decide whether or not it will take action against the K.H.M.H.
