Eight year old plunges 20 feet to ground and lives

Story PictureAn eight year old standard two student was lucky to escape serious injury this morning when she fell almost twenty feet to the ground from the upper flat of her school building. The incident occurred before the bell rang at Holy Redeemer Primary School on North Front Street. The little girl, Mekayla Chiac, has undergone several tests and so far she is doing well. Her school Principal, Suzette Arzu, told us how it happened.

Suzette Arzu, Principal, Holy Redeemer Primary
“About eight twenty-five this morning Mekayla came to school. She went to put her bag in her classroom and on her way down she leaned over the rail, she lost control, she lost her balance and she fell.”

“What’s her condition?”

Suzette Arzu
“The prognosis is very good. All the x-rays were done, no broken bones, nothing serious, all that we got from the doctor already so we’re very happy, we are thankful, praise God, she’s well.”

Arzu says the school is already taking measures to better secure the stairway from where the child fell.
