Safiyyah finds weekend and Garifuna Settlement Day fun

It’s the weekend leading up to Garifuna Settlement Day and there are several pageants and dances taking place in Belize City and the Culture Capital. Open Your Eyes will be doing live coverage of the celebrations, but before that Safiyyah has what’s happening around Belize.

Hey I’m Safiyyah and this is What’s Happening Belize?

Tonight the community of Mahogany Heights will be having their first annual Ms Garifuna Pageant. This Pageant will be held inside the community center at eight p.m. There will be a dance held at the end of the pageant.

Also tonight Sacred Heart Junior College will be having a Freaky Friday Bash inside the Benque Rock night club. There will be balloon drops inside the dance and music will be provided by DJ Ritchie. This is being held as a fundraiser for the school’s scholarship program.

On Saturday morning there will be another fundraiser but this one is being held for the All Saints School Bazaar. There will be great deals on new and used items including household items, clothing and much more. This yard sale will be held inside the All Saints School shed from nine a.m. to one p.m.

On Saturday and Sunday night the Belize Dance Company will be presenting Fusion. This Dance performance will be held inside the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts. The performance will begin at eight p.m. on Saturday and five p.m. on Sunday.

In Black Man Eddy on Saturday there will be the Ms. St Martin De Porres pageant inside the community center at seven-thirty p.m. A Dance will follow this pageant, so check it out.

Also this weekend, there will be a bash called the Pre-Garifuna Settlement Day Bash Latino Style inside Club Planet. Music will be provided by Belize’s biggest Latino DJ Super Mario.

On Sunday there will be a talent night inside the Art Gallery and Coffee shop on Princess Margret Drive. This talent showcase will begin at six p.m. and will feature performances by Leon Banks, Mryna Manzanares, Deborah Pitts and many more.

Next week Wednesday night there will be a dance called Vintage Night inside Palm Island. This party will feature Stone Love straight out of Jamaica, Tagg International, Belizean Movements and Madd Squad.

And since Thursday’s a holiday you can head over to Crocland, where the will be having Punta Splashment. This Pool Party will feature Supa G, Gilharry Seven, Tagg International and DJ Dalla. Check it out, kids under twelve enter free.
