“Nothing is Set in Stone”, Says BRS Area Rep Andre Perez

Andre Perez

According to Area Representative Andre Perez, the proposal being put forward by the Re-Division Task Force is not etched in stone, and Belize Rural South can very well remain untouched during the redistricting process.

Andre Perez, Area Rep, Belize Rural South

“Whether it has to happen by law, I have no choice, but I am quite fine by representing this area that is very much concentrated.  And the relationship I have with them, dividing my job as a minister and as an area rep, I do it very well and it‘s very much in tune.  This weekend, I was in Caye Caulker, we had a clinic there, a mobile clinic, a health clinic.  So I enjoy it and I tell my people, listen, let‘s not be listening to that noise out there.  Let‘s keep on working and yours truly, as your area rep, will continue to work with you all until the very last end.  If any changes occur, as per law, then I would have to oblige.  But it‘s not for me to say, oh they are calling out there, they are saying out there loudly that Caye Caulker will disappear, going into somewhere else.  I can choose to be that irresponsible area rep to say, you know what, bye-bye, unu start to do unno own thing.  But we cannot, we continue to do the work with them because it‘s not set in stone.  It could be very well that Belize Rural South can stay intact.”
