Commissioner of Police is New President of Hemispheric Body

Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams has assumed the role of President of the Commission of Chiefs and Directors of Police of Central America, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Colombia. Williams was designated to that post on June twenty-first, during a virtual meeting of the thirty-fourth Extra Ordinary General Assembly of the commission. The commission’s mandate includes fostering inter-regional and international cooperation with various security organizations and agencies, promoting the exchange of information and expertise, and coordinating efforts to combat transnational crime and enhance the safety of citizens. The event has in attendance thirteen of fifteen member agencies in attendance. Williams was elected President for the 2023-2024 term after he had presided over a meeting in May as the Interim President following unforeseen change in the Commission’s leadership. He is the first commissioner from Belize to hold this position. The position now entitles Belize to host the twenty-eighth Ordinary General Assembly of the commission in November of this year.
