KHMHA’s CT Scan On the Way, Finally…
Of the many demands brought forward by the K.H.M.H. Workers Union’s over the months, one of them will soon become a reality. The Government of Belize has purchased a CT scan for the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, according to the Minister of Health. This morning, he informed reporters that a brand new, state-of-the-art, CT scan will be up and running at the K.H.M.H. in the next few months.
Kevin Bernard, Minister of Health and Wellness
“The CT scan is almost in country, purchased by the supplier and will in installed at KMH pretty soon, state- of-the-art CT scan. So KHMH will shortly have its CT scan where we’ll be able to provide that needed an essential service to the Belizean people. Now we have to remember that when the bid went out, we called for one hundred and twenty-eight slice CT scan, one of the highest grade CT scan, not the sixteen slice or the twenty- four slices you see around. We want to be able to give our people better quality. Let me, let me add this. We are talking about digital transformation, correct? You want to be able to communicate and provide better quality, or service and, having a quality C T scan, you could check, you could check the market out there. It’s costly coming in country. And remember, this package does not only include the purchasing of the CT scan. It includes a five year maintenance plan, the entire fitting of the entire unit that has been done. So the supplier has to incorporate all of that in its cost that he has and to be able to provide necessary in-house training. So there will be technical people coming in to provide additional training to the people at KHMH to be able to provide quality service, utilizing that new CT scanner to be there.”
