N.P.C. Supports Patrick Faber’s Return to Collet

Patrick Faber

Last week, we told you that the U.D.P.’s National Party Council has decided to reinstate Patrick Faber s standard bearer in the Collet constituency at the next general elections. Ian Jones, the U.D.P.’s initial replacement for Faber in Collet stepped down and the N.P.C. agreed to endorse Faber in Collet. But, anybody who has been following the party’s leadership woes since its defeat in 2020 knows that some serious blows have been exchanged internally. So, how do they mend those fences and move forward with a united front. Michael Peyrefitte, the Chairman of the U.D.P., says this decision by the N.P.C. is one of the first steps.

“It can only mean good things for the party moving forward, unified. It is what our people have been demanding of us. Our party faithful have been demanding that we find a way to forge some sort of unity for the party. The party leader has been working very hard to form that unity. It is not going to be easy it is not going to be overnight. You have some scars that are very deep and wide, but you know what this is a big persons game. This is not a game for little girls and boys. This is a game for men and women. So if you want to be in politics you have to learn to put your differences aside and move forward. The NPC also made a decision and once the NPC makes a decision then everybody has to respect that decision. Mr. Ian Jones stepped down from the standard bearer position in Collet which opened it up. Once it became open up then the NPC had the authority to decide look, since we are passed nomination or whatever days those things to happen, the NPC decided it was in the best interest of the party to have the honorable Faber represent the party in Collet in the next general elections.”
