Government to Establish Office to Deal with Cost of Living Issues
The pinch on the pocket due to inflated prices on goods over the past year has drawn sharp criticisms from the public against the government. It is a criticism that the government has not taken lightly. It has arranged meetings with wholesalers and retailers to discuss price control of goods and services, as well to conduct store inspection and monitoring in agreement with the different unions. There was also a need to revisit the list of basic commodities in order to expand the number of goods that are price-controlled. On Wednesday, Minister of Tourism, Anthony Mahler told News Five that the government is working with the unions to deal with the problem.

“We’ve been having a discussion in Cabinet, and we’ll have – I guess they’re going to have more this morning, but we are looking to establish an office to deal with the cost of living. Yes, so that is premature and I don’t want to say anything else about it because the PM will be talking about it in Cabinet.”
