Belize and Honduras draw in Cayo

Story Picture
Good evening, I?m James Adderley and welcome to Sports Monday. This year?s annual CONCACAF campaign features Real Verdes and Juventus of Belize in action against the best football clubs of Central America. Yesterday Real Verdes began its tournament at the Norman Broaster Stadium.

The Hondurans attached early off with this spot kick that almost gets past Darren Hinds – the visitors come up with the rebound but the Verdes? defense holds firm. It?s another opportunity for the visitors, but the ball inches over the crossbar and at the half neither team has impressed the scoreboard.

In second half play, Belize goes offensive and how Earl Peters fails to shake the net here is troublesome. The Hondurans respond with this center off the right wing only to see the subsequent headers crash against the crossbar. Today folks, it seems Darren Hinds is in M.V.P. form as again he comes up with a diving stop. Telling you people, when it?s your day, things go your way — even when Darren Hinds miscalculates as he does here – someone?s got his back.

But the raid from Honduras continues and Hinds simply does what he has to do. Off this corner kick Platence gets the best of its many scoring chances but number 15 raises this ball over the crossbar.

Folks this is the closing moment of the ball game and in the scoring opportunity column it?s 10 to 1 in favor of Platence. However, attempts don?t win ball games and Real Verdes will settle for the scoreless helmet.

Turning to the volleyball scene, here are the results of actions in Volleyball play at the Civic Center Saturday night. Dangriga came all the way from down south to knock off the Lady Jaguars

15-10, 15-04 and then did the same thing to Lady Tigers 15-13, 15-08. On the male side Texaco got past S.Q. Dragons 15-08, 15-10. Scorpions knocked off Tigers 15-09, 15-02. And it was Spikers doing a number on Jaguars 15-12, 15-07 in straight sets.

Hey folks that?s our show for today. We invite you back same time, same place.

Jah over all, I?m James Adderley.
