Police Department Reintroduces Senior Officers to the Country

Sr. Supt. Reymundo Reyes

The Belize Police Department has commenced a new public relations campaign that aims to familiarize residents across the country with the commanding officers in their respective jurisdictions.  It’s an initiative that began with two well-known senior officers introducing themselves to the public via the media this afternoon.  Senior Superintendent Reymundo Reyes is an officer with the department for the past twenty-six years and, despite moving in rank, continues to serve the community to the best of his ability.

Sr. Supt. Reymundo Reyes, Deputy Commander, Eastern Division

“My responsibility entails coordinating operations within the Belize District with regards to that of crime.  Wherever we see that there is a rise in crime and so forth then I have meetings with the different commanders and the specialized units so that we could put in the necessary manpower within that area so that we can counterattack the crime within that jurisdiction within that area. I joined the department in 1997.  Presently, I have twenty-six years of service.  I’ve worked at headquarters, administrative work.  Then I proceeded or was sent to Corozal where I worked relief duties and I did operations as that of a QRT commander .  I did ten years and change as a crimes investigator in the Cayo District and then went to Mango Creek where I was the officer commanding.  From there, I was brought here in Belize City where I have worked both the north and the south side of the city, including the cayes. We vouch to the community of Belize, the Belize District and the country itself that we are here to serve and protect, to look at your complaints.  We have the 911 which people could eventually call, they do not have to give their names or any sort of information that could link them to the information that they are providing to us so that they could look at it at the end of the day.  As well, we have the 922-TIPS that people could call in and forward certain information to us which we will definitely be looked at and give them a feedback at a later date.”
