Lucky Belizean in Diaspora Wins Land Raffle in Belize
The Diaspora Relations Unit (D.R.U.) within the Ministry of Tourism & Diaspora Relations ran a one-year campaign where members of the Diaspora got a chance to register into the Diaspora Registry. Those who registered into the registry got a chance to enter a raffle to win a piece of land in Belize. The campaign started on March first, 2022 and concluded on February twenty-eighth, 2023. The raffle was held in Belize City this morning where a winner was selected.
Sandra Mahler, Senior Liaison Officer, Diaspora Relations Unit
“Every Belizean desire is to own a piece of Belize and like I said they are Belizeans living abroad. So, we believe a piece of land is something to give them so that they would return home, even if it is only for a visit. But, you know when Belizeans abroad get to a certain age in life they want to come home. So, coming home to a piece of land where you can develop is a great initiative. That is why I believe we had over a thousand people actually entered in the registry.”
Paul Lopez
“The winner, and were you guys able to get in contact with that person as yet?”
Sandra Mahler
“The winner selected today was none other than Andrea Usher who resides in New York. We had the raffle live so that members of the Diaspora can see that is was fair.”
Again, that winner is Andrea Usher, a Belizean residing in New York.
