Briceño Administration’s Free Education Program Heading South
Last year, the Briceño administration piloted a free education program on south side Belize City. It was a campaign promise under the People’s United Party’s PlanBelize manifesto. Today, Toledo West Area Representative Oscar Requeña confirmed to the media that come September, the free education program will be rolled out in the Toledo District. While the list of schools that will benefit has not been finalized, Requeña says the news is welcoming.

“That is welcomed news and that is delivering on our commitment under PlanBelize. There is no better opportunity than to provide greater access and opportunity for our children to get a good education so I am very happy for that.”

“Can you tell us which high schools will be involved in the program?”
Oscar Requeña
“We have several high schools in the Toledo District and that matter, we are still clarifying that. But I can assure you that yes, schools in the Toledo District are going to benefit. Whether it is all the schools, we are still finalizing that with the Ministry of Education.”
