CYPAN Belize and N.S.U.B. Joins Forces to Promote Peace on Commonwealth Week

Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassadors Network Belize and National Student Union of Belize have joined forces on a social media peace campaign during Commonwealth Week 2023. The campaign is aimed at raising awareness about the theme of Commonwealth Week 2023: “Forging Peaceful and Sustainable Common Futures”. The campaign also aims to encourage young people to engage in activities that promote peace and sustainability. As part of this joint effort, CYPAN Belize and N.S.U.B. will work together to promote content which promotes peace and sustainability across multiple social media platforms. We spoke with the Country Coordinator for CYPAN Belize, Ishmael Nicholson to learn more.

“For now we have on CYPAN end a little over twenty people on the campaign from CYPAN end. We also added a little bit from our global coordinator, well our Commonwealth Coordinator who is in charge of the entire network for peace. We also added on the National Student Union of Belize. That is there entire team and who they would like to add on. So, it is between us and them. Our main objective is to make everybody realize that peace is important. It is a topic overlooked by many people. They are always like peace; we are never going to get peace. But, when we take our time and know what peace is, how we can achieve it and promote it more, then we can get the entire society involved. That is what we want. Peace is not only for the student union and CYPAN and young people. It is for everyone. It is for young people and NGO, government officials to partake in.”
