Thief Remanded for Burglarizing All Saints School

Tonight, a well-known criminal is once again behind bars for allegedly burglarizing All Saints School over the weekend.  Forty-eight-year-old Kenroy Coote appeared before Magistrate Khiana Gordon today where he was read a single count of burglary.  It is alleged that on Saturday, March tenth, the King’s Park resident broke into one of the school buildings and stole a projector valued at one thousand dollars.  In court, Coote pleaded not guilty to the charge.  Nonetheless, the prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that he has been charged recently for a similar crime of dishonesty.  Magistrate Gordon upheld the objection and remanded Coote to the Belize Central Prison until May twelfth, 2023.  Here’s more from ASP Fitzroy Yearwood.

“We also over the weekend detained Kenroy Coote for a burglary at All Saints Primary School. We notice that many primary schools in the city have been targeted. Mr. Coote is no stranger to the law. He has been sent to jail on several occasions for burglary in the Kings Park Area. This report was made last week Friday and Mr. Coote was detained over the weekend. We got back a projector that he stole from the classroom. But we are still waiting to get back a black Lasko fan that he also took out from that classroom. The reason I am highlighting this is because we need to stop these people from depriving our children of the equipment they need to get their education. And when persons target these primary schools, they don’t only affect the students; they affect the community in a whole. So, hopefully Mr. Coote will be charged and arraigned today.”
