Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“We had a visit yesterday from the Vice Minister of Security from Honduras and we basically discussed different areas that we believe we can collaborate and the key areas of interest for us was human trafficking, human smuggling, as well as narco-trafficking. We had a very good discussion on what each country can do. I also discussed with her a person who is wanted by us for a murder in PG and that person is residing in Honduras. So I discussed with her and gave her all the documents that we have in respect to that person being wanted and she had pledged that they will do their part to find that person and have him return to Belize so that he can face the consequences of his actions that he ran away from. Other than that, the meeting was quite healthy. We will look at drafting some MOU between ourselves and the Honduran National Police that will deal with different issues of cooperation that we can look at in order to enhance both of our countries’ interests.”
