Love Is In The Air

Oscar Mira

Today, we asked a few people in the City of Belmopan about their thought on love, in celebration of Valentine’s Day. We wanted to know what love means to them. We heard responses from a couple of students and some well-known leaders.  Here is what they told us.

Oscar Mira, Area Representative, Belmopan

“I believe that it is about service. For me it is about service and we have to stop thinking about me and more about us. It is about everyone. I have been blessed and I want to make sure that the blessings I have are shared with all those I represent and of course my family. I do have three children and I want to make sure that they are ok. And, it does not have to be on Valentine’s Day. This should be every day. Every day we should make sure we share the blessings that we get and the love we have. It doesn’t matter if we know them or not. For the children they don’t care.”

“It is a very broad topic, but I would say that love for me is appreciation for people and things that you partake in.”

“It is said that love makes the world go around.  And I truly believe that. Let me say this, I think love starts with respect and then it goes to commitment. Whatever you do you do it with commitment. If you are dating you do so in an honest way. If you are married there is commitment. If you are trying to help a community member or a disabled person, anyone, I think It is that will to want to be human and to want to serve. On a personal level I think it is respect and commitment on a professional level it is the will to serve because we are humans.”

“Love means spending time with family, friends and everyone around you.”
