I.D.B. Donates to Continued Hurricane Lisa Recovery Efforts in Belize

It’s been three months since Hurricane Lisa made landfall near Belize City. The Category one storm caused extensive damage to homes and families across central Belize. It isn’t just private residences trying to recover but also group homes like Sister Cecelia Home for the Elderly in Belize City and Liberty Children’s Home in Ladyville. And today, the Inter-American Development Bank, I.D.B., helped to alleviate some of these institutions’ financial burdens of rebuilding. The Special Envoy for Families and Children, Rossana Briceño, and Counselor for Belize at the I.D.B., Elvira Mendez, delivered fifteen thousand Belize dollars to both organizations. The funds were raised through a fundraising campaign organized by the I.D.B. Group, which consists of the I.D.B. staff association, I.D.B. family association, I.D.B. retirees association, and I.D.B. Global Credit Union. The “Solidarity with Belize” campaign raised the initial funds that the I.D.B. Group administration matched. The O.A.S. Staff Association also supported the campaign, resulting in thirty thousand Belize dollars. Special Envoy Rosanna Briceño, on behalf of the Government of Belize, expressed her sincere appreciation to the contributors who made this effort possible.
