“John Saldivar is a Reflection of the U.D.P.”, PM Briceño
When asked for his take on the U.D.P. Belmopan convention, the P.M. had a mouthful to share about the newly elected U.D.P. Standard Bearer, John Saldivar and the Caucus for Change. He says he is strongly convinced that the U.D.P. has no viable candidate to go up against Area Representative Oscar Mira in that division. Furthermore, P.M. Briceño took shots at Saldivar and the Caucus for Change by declaring that they represent – the worst of the U.D.P.
Prime Minister John Briceño
“Honestly, I don’t want to sound boastful, but it doesn’t matter who they put to run in that division. Oscar Mira is the Area Representative and has been doing tremendous work in the division. He has been doing a lot of work in the fixing of roads, building roads, putting culverts, working on parks. We have even now set up a new substation in Belmopan thanks to his efforts. So, he has been on the ground and working, and it does not matter to us who they want to put as their candidate. But John Saldivar is a reflection of the UDP. He reflect what the UDP truly stands for, and while the leader of the opposition was trying to make these bold statements, he knew what was going to be the result, he knew that you had like probably twenty different former ministers, representatives that are just at the hips with Saldivar. They represent the worst of the UDP and that is fine by us. We don’t really look at what they re doing, we look at what we are doing. For us it is important that we continue to do the work. We have reduced unemployment to five percent and I challenge anyone that does not believe the numbers to go to SIB to look at how it was done. Look at the legislation we just passed for the MSME. That is something that is not done anywhere. When we presented that to the IMF, the IMF is excited.”
