Armenia Burglars Impersonated Police Officers

Two men impersonating police officers ransacked a home in Armenia Village and stole several items, including cash, after tying up the homeowner. Jose Gonzalez told police that on Friday evening, he arrived at his home in the village and noticed an unknown vehicle parked in front of his property. He entered his house, and the perpetrators immediately assaulted him. The perpetrators then escaped with an assortment of electrical items, ten bags of fertilizer, two chainsaws, one twenty gauge shotgun, and a Nike bag containing four thousand dollars.

“Jose Gonzalez reported that he arrived home and saw a vehicle in front of his house. He then entered his residence where he was held up by two persons who were dressed as police officers. They proceeded to tie him up. The ransacked his home and proceeded to steal a number of items including an undisclosed amount of cash. They then fled from the area. Police are investigating this matter at this time. We have no suspects.”

“Any idea where they may have gotten this uniform.”

ACP Hilberto Romero

“We do not know, no.”

“Does this raise into question whether the department should be cracking down on persons using clothing similar to police clothing? We know that last week that gentleman escaped many charges after he was impersonating a police officer.”

ACP Hilberto Romero

“Yes, they were in the number one police uniform. So, that is an offense if we find someone wearing that uniform who is not a police officer they will be charged.”
