Belize Gets Ready for MICS7

A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Government of Belize, UNICEF and the Statistical Institute of Belize, commencing the seventh round of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey.  It will utilize new modules and, as a result, add new indicators to the existing key indicators that the survey collects, which will expand Belize’s data results and capacities.  Allison Parker is UNICEF’s Country Representative in Belize.

“Let me take this opportunity to congratulate the Government of Belize for its leadership and commitment to prioritize the rollout of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey Round 7.  We are among the first countries to mobilize a national system to implement the seventh round of the MICS and for that I congratulate our able partners from SIB for being able to jump and run with the initiative as quickly as you did.  Thank you so much, Diana, for you and your team.  It signals at the highest level a dedication to improving the data ecosystem to enhance and accelerate life-changing policies and interventions for children.  This investment in the MICS program demonstrates in practice a shared belief that consistent, credible data about children’s situations are critical to the improvement of their lives and that of their families and these are indispensable to fulfilling the rights of children as enshrined in the Convention of the Rights of the Child.”
