Youth Denied Bail on Robbery Charges

Aaron Chavez

A youth who is known to the law has been accused of robbing two gas attendants at gunpoint. Eighteen-year-old Aaron Chavez, who got into trouble while he was out on bail for another criminal matter, was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrates’ Court on two counts of robbery. This was after two gas attendants were robbed last week Thursday, while on the job at Oil and Energy Exports Limited, located in Lindo’s Alley. During the incident, David Sutherland, was relieved of a cell phone and his wallet containing cash and other items. The other victim, Rodney Rowland was relieved of cash, property of the establishment. Rowland was also robbed of a beach cruiser bicycle. The two reported that they were at work on Thursday evening when two dark-skinned youths riding separate bicycles approached them and robbed them at gunpoint. Police canvassed the area and lifted fingerprints from the bicycle, which led them to Chavez. The second suspect remains at large. Chavez was remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until March sixth.
