ComPol on Missing Belize City Men

Leon Ortiz, Christopher Sosa, Kyle Latchman and Akeem Augustine – these are the names of four Belize City men who have been reported missing; Ortiz from June of last year, while the others have disappeared without a trace more recently.  While relatives of these men fear that the worst has happened to them, today the media asked Commissioner of Police for an update on those reports and whether it is suspect that in the case of at least two of the men, they were taken out by their gang leaders.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

“From what we are gathering, yes, these disappearances are inter gang-related. We know for a fact that the two in George Street, Kyle Latchman and perhaps Christopher Sosa, even though we have received information that Christopher Sosa may have gone to the states. One of his relatives contacted me on social media last night and this morning to say that Christopher Sosa is not in the U.S. and from their information; he was abducted by one of his colleagues and perhaps killed. So I have obtained the information that she gave me, I will pass that on to the investigators and see if we can do some follow up and try to bring some closure to the family.”
