The Hard Task of Indentifying a New L.I.U. Chairman Following Dawson’s Passing

William Dawson

And, as you heard in the interviews with those impacted by the life of William Dawson, he is irreplaceable. But, someone will have to be chosen to take up the mantle as chair of the Leadership Intervention Unit, to carry on Dawson’s legacy. And, as the community members of Lake Independence told us, that person must be as genuine as their predecessor. Olga Gordon, the President of Eyes of the Jaguar Neighborhood Watch, says finding a new person to fill the role is a near impossible task. Minister Musa agrees.

“Right now my thing as I talk with Ms Sharoll this morning. I said Ms. Sharoll this thing has to continue. It can’t dead, we can’t kill this. For the love of Mr. D we will continue the work. How do you do that? How do you continue his legacy? I can’t. We will have to find somebody who could foot this and I don’t see anybody there at the moment. I don’t see anybody. I cried this morning when hey asked me to find somebody, because I was like my god, who could I find? Who could I work with? He was a people person. he was love. He loved everybody.”

“While it is that we are not likely to find an equal replacement, perhaps we can find two or three individuals that can multi-task, make themselves available and efficient the way Mr. Dawson did. But, certainly we cannot let the legacy and vision of Mr. Dawson pass. That is something that we owe it to him to honor him and continue with the path that he has led us on, because he is not just a colleague and a brother. He is our leader. And so, we have to certainly pick up the pieces as best as we can and continue in the path that he has taken us that, which like I said has certainly yielded some very positive results.”
