We also asked Flowers about the emergence of several memos dating back to June 2021, all the way up to October fourteenth, 2022. One memo reveals that C.E.O. in the Prime Minister’s Office Narda Garcia is receiving two thousand dollars monthly as a responsibility allowance. On June thirtieth, a special allowance of two thousand dollars monthly was approved for C.E.O. in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Amalia Mai as compensation for her service as Ambassador to SICA. On February first, the financial secretary approved one thousand dollars monthly to Collet Montejo as a special allowance for his service as Vice President of Senate. Only two weeks ago, one thousand, five hundred dollars was approved as a monthly special allowance to Sergeant David Cal the Prime Minister’s personal bodyguard.

Dean Flowers, President, P.S.U.

“I think that it is important that the Belizean people understand that we are not treating the C.E.O.’s unfair here but we are saying o them you already have the cake, you  already have edible candies on it and lawd man unu still want pour whip cream pan it. Be considerate. And no Mr. Leslie, no Cab Sec it is not the C.E.O.’s that worked their butts off to restore this economy, it was public officers that continued to work, extended hours, without compensation that is responsible for the restoration of this economy. We can count on one hand and I don’t know if I will get to five, those C.E.O.s that has truly transformed and made a difference in this economy. I want to recognize publicly, C.E.O. Dr. Osmond Martinez and C.E.O. Zetina in the Ministry of Public Service. So, do not get it twisted. It is public officers that are responsible for the rebounding of this economy and not chief executive officers.”

According to the Cabinet Secretary, Cab Sec the allowances approved for the C.E.O.’s mentioned are for extra duties that they undertake.
