Troy Hyde Walks Free from Robbery’s Murder

Troy Hyde

Accused of killing a reputed gang member in January 2015, Troy Hyde has walked free from a murder charge that was brought against him in the wake of a deadly shooting on Central American Boulevard.  This morning, Hyde, who has been out on bail since July 2018, appeared before Justice Ricardo O’Neil Sandcroft in the presence of attorney Norman Rodriguez.  In the Supreme Court, the crown counsel informed that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has decided not to proceed with the case.  Kareem Lopez, otherwise known as Robbery, was gunned down on Central American Boulevard on January sixth, 2015, as he was purchasing food.  Lopez had just gotten out of his vehicle when he came under heavy gunfire and died at the scene of the shooting.  The charge that was subsequently brought against his alleged killer has loomed over Hyde’s head for more than seven years.  Despite police claiming that they had surveillance footage of the incident, investigators were unable to place Hyde at that location at the time of the shooting.  While no reason was given for the nolle prosequi, Hyde can still be charged for that murder in the future, if the D.P.P. is able to present sufficient evidence that he was the triggerman.
