B.T.B. to Appeal Decision

Karen Bevans

Around mid-September, the Government of Belize lost a legal battle with former Tourism Director Karen Bevans, who sued for unlawful termination from the Belize Tourism Board on March twelfth, 2021. At the time of her termination, Bevans was less than a year into a five-year legally binding agreement signed by the former Minister of Tourism. Bevans was awarded over eight hundred thousand dollars in damages. Since the ruling, little has been said by G.O.B., but today during a sit down with Minister Anthony Mahler, News Five asked him for a reaction. This is all that he was able to say.

Duane Moody

“Your reaction to the ruling.”

Anthony Mahler

“I won’t say anything about that. I will plea the fifth. But I will say that we will appeal and we will go from there. It will be in the courts so I don’t want to say anything as instructed by our attorneys.”
